The ProtectionPlus plug-in extends and compliments the built-in features of SecurityGateway by offering an additional anti-virus engine from Kaspersky Lab and the Recurrent Pattern Detection and Zero-Hour Outbreak Protection of Commtouch. Highly recommended!

- If you are installing SecurityGateway, or either its ProtectionPlus plug-in for the first time, the software will generate a 30 day unrestricted trial licence for you to use - to continue using the product after your trial period has expired you will need to purchase a licence key which you then simply replace the trial licence key with - no further installation or configuration will be required.
- To upgrade an existing installation simply download the latest release from above and install over the top of your current installation - all your current settings will be retained but it is good practice and highly recommended that you always make a back-up of your existing installation prior to upgrading!
- If you intend to run a third party antivirus application on your SecurityGateway server, you MUST ensure that real-time file scanning is configured to exclude the entire SecurityGateway installation folder and sub-folders and that Email 'traffic interception' scanning is disabled. Either of these features will cause reliability problems for your SecurityGateway server. Antivirus scanning for your email is a vital function that can only be done reliably by SecurityGateway's integrated virus scanner and its ProtectionPlus add-on which are specifically designed to operate with SecurityGateway at a safe point in the message handling process.
